Child-Centered Play Therrapy

Meeting children where they are, through the language they speak best -

Play is the language. Toys are words.

Child-Centered Play Therapy is a developmentally appropriate approach, play-based mental health intervention for children ages 3 to 10. Children experience and express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences differently from adults. Through play, children can communicate and explore what may be difficult to put into words.

In a safe and supportive relationship, children are free to lead their own play and explore at their own pace. The therapist follows the child's lead, listens with understanding, and helps create a space where children can express themselves, experience their feelings, make choices, and discover their own strengths and ways of coping.

Through this relationship, children can gradually develop a deeper understanding of themselves, build confidence, and experience a greater sense of competence and control in their world.

How it helps your child:

  • Emotional Regulation: Developing greater awareness and expression of feelings, and building the capacity to manage big emotions such as anger, frustration, sadness, and worry.

  • Behavioral Changes: Reducing acting-out behaviors, tantrums, or withdrawal by processing the underlying stress causing them.

  • Confidence & Resilience: Strengthening children's sense of competence, encouraging problem-solving and decision-making, and helping them recognize their own strengths and abilities.

Parent Consultation

Because you don’t have to navigate this journey alone.

Parents are essential partners in their child’s growth and healing. Parent consultation is a key part of our therapeutic process, where provides a safe and supportive space for parents to ask questsions, express concerns, and reflect on your child's progress. By working together, we can create a nuturing enviornment that helps your child feel seen, understood, and heard.

Before therapy begins, we meet parents to listen to their specific concerns which helps us understanding the child from parents' perspective. We work together to set goals and make a counseling plan for future session.

Once play therapy is underway, we schedule regular parent consultations. In these sessions, we listen parental feedback regarding developmental progress and emotional / behavioral change, and discuss ways you can support their growth at home.
